Sometimes Tension Needs a Different Tool
Hands can only do so much on their own. Gua Sha uses a smooth-edged stone tool to scrape gently along your skin, helping release tight fascia, boost circulation, and reach tension that fingers alone sometimes can't quite get to. It's one of our included enhancements, so there's no separate booking and no upcharge.
Quick Facts
- Uses a smooth stone tool to scrape gently along your skin
- Helps release tight fascia and connective tissue
- Boosts circulation and lymphatic flow
- Included free - no separate booking or upcharge
What Makes Gua Sha Different
Your therapist glides a smooth-edged tool, usually stone, across your skin using firm, controlled strokes. It reaches your fascia in a way that's different from hands alone, helping break up tightness along the tissue's surface layers. You may notice mild redness in the treated area afterward; that's a normal response as circulation increases, and it typically fades within a day or so.
Gua Sha Is Great For
- Tight, stubborn fascia
- Neck and shoulder tension
- Improving circulation
- Muscle stiffness from overuse
- Recovery after activity or exercise
- Deepening a Customized Massage session
- Anyone who wants a different sensation than hands alone
What to Expect During Your Session
Check-In
Let your therapist know you'd like Gua Sha added to your session, and mention any areas of concern or sensitivity beforehand.
Applying Oil
A light layer of oil is applied first so the tool can glide smoothly across your skin without dragging.
Controlled Scraping Strokes
Your therapist uses firm, deliberate strokes along the muscle or fascia, adjusting pressure to a level that feels productive, not painful.
Ongoing Comfort
If the sensation ever feels like too much, speak up - your therapist will adjust pressure or switch back to hands right away.
After Your Massage
Mild redness or light marks in the treated area are a normal response and usually fade within a day. Drink water, and expect the area to feel looser and less tense over the next day or so.
