How Often Should You Get a Massage?

It’s one of the most common questions we hear—and the answer depends on why you’re coming in.

There’s no one-size-fits-all schedule. But here’s a simple guide to help you decide what consistency might support your body best.

If you're in pain or recovering from injury: Once a week (or even twice a week) is ideal during the acute phase. This helps your therapist stay ahead of the inflammation, tightness, and compensatory patterns your body is holding. After a few sessions, your body will begin to respond more quickly, and we can taper down as needed.

If you're managing stress or burnout: Every 2–3 weeks can work well. This keeps your nervous system regulated and gives your body time to fully integrate the effects of each session. You may find your sleep improves, digestion evens out, and emotional reactivity softens.

If you're focused on maintenance and prevention: A monthly massage is a strong baseline. It’s enough to keep your tissue pliable, support circulation, and catch small issues before they become big ones. Think of it like dental cleanings or oil changes—regular care makes everything run smoother.

If you're not sure: Start with one massage. See how your body feels in the 3–5 days after your session. If you notice a significant difference, your body might be asking for more support.

You don't need to figure this out alone. At The Deep Tissue Spa, every session starts with a real conversation. Your therapist will help you set realistic goals and build a plan that fits your body and your life.

Whether you're healing, maintaining, or just taking things one session at a time, we're here when you're ready.
